In response to the introduction of the updated Bulgaria Golden Visa framework, Vasil Markov took the initiative to create a dedicated investment vehicle tailored to the new legal requirements. Bulgaria’s Golden Visa Fund draws structural comparisons to Portugal’s well-known investment migration funds, but it comes with distinct advantages. Notably, the Bulgarian fund is permitted to allocate capital to real estate projects and is open-ended—allowing greater flexibility for investors. However, early withdrawal of capital disqualifies an investor from maintaining Golden Visa status. It’s important to clarify that Bulgaria’s version offers permanent residency rather than temporary residence, despite having a similar financial threshold as Portugal.
